Submission of ICD O 3 for solid tumours

The data specification allows for mandatory submission of either the primary diagnosis ICD10 or the morphology ICD O 3. Both fields remain 'required' fields and there is an expectation that these will be completed across all diagnoses where it is appropriate.  Morphology codes are of particular importance to Lung, Testicular and Ovarian cancers.  Data quality initiatives from the CIU will reflect the importance of morphology in these cases.

This means that the SACT standard disease tree will need to be amended as follows:

Lung: the disease tree is already branched to accommodate ICD O 3. You will need to ensure that you have added an ICD O 3 or all selectable branches for lung.

ICD 03 codes you may need:

NSSCL - 80463

Adeno Ca  - 81403

Testis: The disease tree will require further branching below testis to accommodate the morphology.

ICD 0 3 codes you may need:

Seminoma - 90613

Teratoma  - 90803

Ovary: will require further branching below ovary to accommodate the morphology.

ICD O3 codes you may need:

Dysgerminoma - 90603

Choriocarcinoma -91003

Submission of ICD O 3 for Haematology

The haematological disease tree will need to be populated with ICD O 3 see the table below for details:

Mapping Tool

Use one location to do all mapping work, the mapping you do in this location will not be visible if you select other locations . When the data is extracted the mapping will be applied to all locations.

Release of the new extract and mapping tool

The new extract and mapping tool to accommodate item 43 is now in testing and will be released by 31st April 2014. The upgrade will retain all the mapping you have carried out in your current version.
