| | North Trent Cancer Network has successfully rolled out ChemoCare® , their chemotherapy prescribing system from the cancer centre at the Weston Park Hospital of Sheffield Teaching
Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to four additional hospital sites across the Cancer Network,
namely:
• Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
• Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
• The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust
• Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
The aim of the project was to support the provision of solid tumour chemotherapy services in local hospitals and therefore closer to patient’s homes. ChemoCare® offers safe prescribing and a
single patient record across all hospital sites.
Kim Fell, Network Director said: “Following several years of successful use of ChemoCare on
Weston Park Hospital (and more recently, in the Royal Hallamshire Hospital), we are delighted
that patients treated in their local hospitals are using the same system. This will greatly improve
safety and we are able to confirm and audit Network-wide use of standard regimens and
protocols for solid tumour oncology.”
The project took 5 months from inception to completion across all sites, with go lives achieved
starting with Chesterfield Royal Hospital on 15th Dec 2008, then Barnsley District Hospital on 3rd
Feb 2009, followed by Rotherham General Hospital on 20th Feb 2009 and finally Doncaster Royal Infirmary 31st March 2009.
Dom Gallagher, Project Manager of CIS Oncology, commented “To achieve all 4 go-lives within a
considerably reduced timescale when compared to standard implementations is a testament to
the dedication, hard work and commitment exhibited by all parties assigned to the project. My

completing the successful ChemoCare® implementations within the agreed timescales.”
