About us

Based at the Innovation Centre in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter at the heart of the city’s thriving and innovative tech sector, CIS Oncology specialises in the creation and installation of innovative chemotherapy prescribing systems.

Experts in Automated Chemotherapy Prescribing

Our number-one-selling ChemoCare system is used by hundreds of NHS Trusts across the UK and makes prescribing and patient management quicker, easier and more reliable, using the latest technology for access anywhere, any time.

Working closely with our clients, we constantly engage with NHS Trusts and the people who actually use our systems, obtaining crucial operational feedback which helps us reassess our product functionality and services. As part of this we gather information from several focus groups every year, ensuring that our products continue to meet customer needs.

If you want a more efficient and effective automated system for your facility, which can be tailored to meet your unique demands, then just get in touch.

History

With more than 20 years’ experience within the healthcare industry, CIS Oncology has been providing leading clinical care systems to the NHS since 1989.

We identified a need early on for an electronic tool that would simplify the chemotherapy prescribing process, making it safer and more efficient for patients and clinicians. Combining our team’s expert knowledge with further research and development, we launched the first version of our automated chemotherapy prescribing system – ChemoCare - in Leeds in 1996.

This was followed shortly afterwards a version for paediatric chemotherapy prescribing. It also saw the introduction of our revolutionary Protocol Prescribing tool which used ‘decision trees’ to aid clinical decision-making and was quickly adopted by NHS Trusts.

Since we went ‘live’ in September 2020, and started the training roll-out, we are pleased with the additional functionality the upgrade has provided. Training has been delivered remotely via software platforms due to social distancing restrictions and this methodology has been efficient and successful. Feedback from end users has been positive and many clinicians prefer the new format.

It has taken significant collaborative effort from all parties to achieve this milestone; we look forward to fully utilising the additional functionality and the upgraded software.

We are pleased to announce that Airedale NHS Foundation Trust has now gone live with the planned upgrade to Chemocare V6. The clinical and IT teams at the Trust worked closely with the project team at CIS Oncology to deliver the project within the planned timeframe. The upgraded system will allow us to continue to develop our chemotherapy service and deliver on the new SACT v3 database. We are very happy with the support and project management offered by CIS which meant that the upgrade ran smoothly.
